Homeowners’ / Renter’s Inventory List

December 27, 2011 By Nibby Priest

A devastating loss can occur in an instant. A Fire, Tornado, or Flood can wipe out all of your possessions.

Everyone needs a home inventory list in case of a devastating loss. It is much easier to do it now, than to wait until after a loss.

This link, KnowYourStuff, takes you to a free tool to download & prepare a home inventory list. It is part of the Insurance Information Institute.

We here at Vaughn Insurance highly recommend that you prepare a home inventory list and store it somewhere other than you home. I know all too well about trying to recreate a list of contents after a major loss. It is very hard to remember everything you had when the only thing you have left is a pile of burnt debris.

If you don’t want to take the time to prepare an inventory list, then you at least need to go through your home with a video camera and record everything you have.

Be prepared and be safe.
