The AARP Smart Driver Course will be offered in the Spring of 2023 in Henderson, KY.
The class will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 (click the link to register).
The class will start promptly at 9 am and end at 1:30 pm. The class is a four-hour course; we take a break every hour with a 30-minute lunch break at noon. This class will be held at the Henderson County Cooperative Extension Service, 3099 Zion Rd, Henderson, KY.
The Instructor will be Nibby Priest, an AARP-certified Driver Safety Instructor.
Participants will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate a vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. You’ll learn adjustments to accommodate frequent age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time. Pre-registration is required.
Kentucky auto insurance companies must offer a discount to those drivers 55 and above who complete this course. The discount is applied for five years. The class costs will be a charge of $25 for non-AARP members and $20 for AARP members. The class is free if you have an AARP UHC Medicare Supplement insurance policy.
You must attend all 4 hours of class to get a certificate of completion. Payment is accepted at the start of the course, and there are no refunds.
