On July 6, 2011 General Motors made the announcement that drivers in Oregon and Washington, who take delivery of a new 2010, 2011 or 2012 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac car, truck or crossover between today and September 6 will receive a one-year insurance policy from MetLife Auto & Home at no additional cost (free).
Many Kentucky licensed insurance agents immediately contacted the Kentucky Department of Insurance on this matter, and we have been informed that a filing was made for this program by MetLife in the state of Kentucky. However, the Kentucky Department of Insurance informed MetLife that Kentucky law does not allow free insurance, after which MetLife withdrew the filing for the program.
